Past Faces of Lehigh

In September 2019, Klaudia Jazwinska ’18 finished the first of two degree programs as a Marshall Scholar and will earn a Master of Science degree in computational and data journalism from Cardiff University, Wales. She is already accepted at the London School of Economics for her second program and is pursuing a Master of Science degree in media and communications (data and society).

Combined with her Lehigh University undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and global studies, her graduate education will allow her to combine her passions for journalism, social science, technology, and human rights and pursue a career in tech/algorithmic accountability reporting. Her objective is to use investigative and data journalism practices to explore the social, political, and ethical implications of technological development. Jazwinska is the first Lehigh student to win the Marshall Scholarship in more than 40 years.

Felicia La Forgia ’90 has been promoted to head of Corporate Banking at U.S. Bank, the nation’s fifth largest commercial bank. In this role, she leads client activity throughout all industry, geographic, and government sectors, as well as spearheading community engagement and championing cross-enterprise initiatives in the greater NYC area. La Forgia has consistently been an important champion for employee development and community service, focusing many of her efforts on both promoting women in banking and developing talent. She has also been recognized as part of the American Banker Most Powerful Women in Banking team several times throughout her tenure with U.S. Bank.

La Forgia received her MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business.

Alice Lenthe ’78 ’12P took her commitment to leadership to the ends of the earth after being chosen as a Homeward Bound participant. Homeward Bound is a global 12-month leadership initiative for women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine). It aims to equip a 1000-strong collaboration of women with the skills to demonstrate a new model of leadership in order to create better outcomes for our planet. The program addresses leadership capacity, strategic capability, visibility, and collaboration and culminates with a three-week voyage to Antarctica at the end of 2020. Lenthe is currently Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) director at Villanova University. Prior to retiring in 2014, she was executive director of EHS for Merck & Co.

Tamer Morsy ’13G is the founder and CEO of Spotlight Media Labs, a news distribution platform company that allows the consumer to custom-build a digital newsfeed that suits their interest. The company is nearing 100 publishing partnerships with local news hubs and college news sources. For his accomplishments, Morsy was named to the 2020 Forbes 30 under 30 list in the media category.

Morsy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Temple University in 2012 and a Master of Engineering degree in healthcare systems engineering from Lehigh in 2013. 

Patricia Nugent ’03 has been promoted to vice president of public relations with Mower, one of the largest independent marketing, advertising, and public relations agencies in the U.S. Nugent oversees several of Mower’s premier travel and tourism accounts such as Lufthansa Group, Pebble Beach Resorts, and Westchester County Tourism. Throughout her 16-year tenure at Mower, Nugent has been an accomplished manager of accounts and team members; a valuable contributor to new business presentations and pitches; and a role model as a strategist, writer, publicist, and social community manager.

Matthew Scherbarth ’16 is an associate at Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP in the commercial litigation and fiduciary, estates and trusts groups. He works on all aspects of litigation including dispositive motions and discovery. Prior to joining Pietragallo, he worked at the office of Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

In 2019, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School.

Jason F. Stokes ’00 has been named pastor of St. Matthew the Evangelist and St. Michael the Archangel Parishes in Minersville, Pennsylvania (Diocese of Allentown). He was ordained a priest in 2011 and was pastor of the Most Blessed Trinity Parish in Tremont, Pennsylvania, from 2016-2019. Stokes is also a member of the board of directors of St. Joseph Special Learning Center in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and co-chair of the Diocese of Allentown Annual Golf Tournament, which raises money for the education of diocesan seminarians and Catholic schools. Prior to entering the seminary, he was manager of internal audit for LA Weight Loss Centers, Inc., and staff accountant for KPMG.

Stokes earned a Master of Divinity and Master of Sacred Theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.
