Fans celebrate Lehigh’s win

Thousands of fans packed Fisher Stadium in Easton last Saturday for the latest chapter in the nation’s most-played football rivalry. From painted faces and homemade signs to brown and white as far as the eye could see, the energy was palpable.

But no group embodies the spirit of Lehigh quite like Clutch’s Kettle, the university’s spirited student section.

“Clutch’s Kettle gives students a place to feel at home in the stadium,” says Alex Lien ’28, founder and president of the Kettle. “When you’re surrounded by other students living in the moment, you really feel that sense of school spirit.”

For members of the Kettle, game day is about more than showing up — it’s about creating an atmosphere that radiates through the entire crowd. They’re the ones who set the tone before kickoff and keep the fans locked in from the first play to the final whistle. Their presence builds a shared enthusiasm that helps transform the stands into a roaring student section.

On Rivalry weekend, that energy reaches another level.

Students cheer until their voices go hoarse, clap until their hands sting, and celebrate so loudly it practically shakes the bleachers. It’s a tradition that connects generations of Lehigh students who’ve stood in those same stands before them, as well as those who will come after.

Ava Kavasansky ’28, the Kettle’s social media manager, says the group has made school spirit a priority all season long.

“It’s so rewarding seeing everyone come together and participate in the student section,” she says. “The atmosphere is electric.”

This year, that electricity surged when Lehigh defeated Lafayette 42-32. As the final seconds ticked away, the Kettle poured out of the stands and onto the field alongside the rest of the Lehigh faithful. Joy, pride, and pure adrenaline carried them across the field as they celebrated a Rivalry win they’ll be talking about long after graduation.

“It was great to see Lehigh win, especially because of their undefeated season,” says Kavasansky. “I always love to see how hyped the fans get!”

And as Lehigh heads into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, you can count on the Kettle to be there. Loud, loyal, and impossible to miss.
